Young Adults

It's no wonder your child gets frustrated.

They are struggling to be independent and find their way in the world.

You worry that they’ll ever be able to live independently or get that job they’ve been so passionate about pursuing.

No doubt your child struggles to organise their time, maintain focus, and make safe choices. Accessing further education and employment, cooking and cleaning, staying fit and healthy, are all so much more difficult for them. It’s just easier for them to give up and rely on you to do everything for them.

We can help. Our therapists will give them the skills, strategies and support to enable them to be successful, confident and independent in their daily life.

Occupational therapy

Our OT’s have a huge toolbox of strategies to help with organisation, time management and maintaining focus.

This might include ways to self regulate and stay calm, or movement and positions to help them gain and maintain focus. We can also teach them practical skills like budgeting for food, going to the shops to buy ingredients. Cooking up a storm is one of ours and our young adults’ favourite activities.

Sessions are always tailored towards their interests and needs.

Physiotherapy sessions can be in our clinic, at a hydrotherapy session, at their gym or at home

Physiotherapy

If you’ve ever despaired at your young person just sitting at their computer all day, not getting any physical activity, we are on your side. It’s not hard to understand why they do it. If sport and activity is difficult due to being uncoordinated or just in poor physical condition it’s a difficult habit to get back into.

We’re passionate about young people living healthy lifestyles and believe prevention is always better than cure. We know a high percentage of disabled people also have problems with pain and movement caused by conditions like hypermobility and low muscle tone. Regular Physiotherapy sessions to assess their muscles and joints is always a good idea. Being in pain or not being able to move properly just makes managing daily activities even harder.

Your child will get significant benefits from regular Physiotherapy, providing maintenance of movement and function. Plus the ongoing review of equipment will ensure they maintain their independence and fully participate in the community and activities they enjoy.

Physiotherapy sessions can be in our clinic, at a hydrotherapy session, at their gym or at home.  Also, look out for our new group sessions which are starting soon.

Our one-on-one goal driven therapy sessions are structured around your child’s specific requirements.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy or aquatic physiotherapy is physiotherapy performed in warm water.

You know that floating feeling of weightlessness you get when in a pool, well we use that to our advantage in hydrotherapy.

The support of the water allows for greater freedom of movement, relief of pain or muscle spasm, the opportunity to improve flexibility or joint range and the chance to improve strength or endurance.

More importantly, water exercises are fun - who doesn’t love splashing around in a pool?!

We know that parents can be concerned when working with water.

That's why we strongly focus on safety and believe helping children become safer around water is an essential part of Australian childhood.
